Why I Do What I Do

writing on a notebook2

Hi, I am Sue. I work with specialized, trust-dependent services that need to explain what they do clearly—because when understanding breaks down, decisions slow down.

My path into copywriting grew out of years of writing, editing, and information work done mostly behind the scenes, where accuracy mattered more than visibility and clarity mattered more than flair.

How My Background Shapes My Work

Before focusing on copywriting, I worked in corporate environments where information had to be gathered carefully, verified, and presented in a way others could rely on. That experience trained me to work with incomplete or complex material and turn it into explanations that hold up under review.

I bring experience in ghostwriting, technical writing, and editing, often behind the scenes on material that needed to be:

  • * accurate

    * defensible

    * easy to understand by non-experts

That background shapes how I write copy today: careful, structured, and built to last.

Why Creative Writing Matters Here

Alongside this work, I’ve always written creatively. Short stories and longer-form projects have sharpened how I think about flow, pacing, and meaning—skills that matter when explaining services clearly to people encountering them for the first time.

The combination of careful data work and creative writing allows me to balance precision with readability.

How I Approach Copywriting

I don’t start with persuasion. I start with understanding.

If people struggle to explain a service after reading about it, something isn’t working. My role is to remove that friction—so clarity comes first and confidence follows.

On per-project basis

A project-based approach works well when there’s a specific clarity issue to address, such as a service page or a set of emails. It keeps scope and timelines clear, focuses on one defined outcome, and improves understanding without requiring ongoing commitment.

On retainer basis

This option is for teams that need:

  • consistent language across channels
  • fewer rewrites and clarifications
  • messaging that holds up as offerings evolve

What ongoing support helps with

  • Aligning lead magnets, emails, and service pages
  • Improving how your prospects progress from interest to informed consideration
  • Refining language while maintaining clarity as services change

This is about reducing friction over time, and useful when email is used for nurturing rather than aggressive selling.
